Kia ora! I’m Ellen Wright, Clinical Psychologist in Ōtautahi, Christchurch, New Zealand.

Since completing my training at the University of Otago, I have returned to my hometown, Christchurch, to continue my career. I have been privileged to work with a diverse range of clients in various settings including community mental health, inpatient services, care and protection, and correctional settings. I offer assessment and intervention for a broad range of neurodevelopmental and mental health challenges including anxiety, emotional dysregulation, and trauma. I am passionate about understanding the individual experience of each client and their whānau, to enable us to determine the best explanation for any difficulties they are facing, and therefore the most effective treatment to support them moving forward.

I work from a trauma-informed, strengths based, and neurodiversity affirming perspective. I am trained in a range of therapy modalities including cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT), and eye movement desensitisation and reprocessing (EMDR). I am therefore able to draw on a range of skills to create a treatment plan targeted to your individual needs. I am experienced in assessing a range of neurodevelopmental conditions including intellectual disabilities, ADHD, autism, and fetal alcohol spectrum disorder (FASD). I can also facilitate referral to other providers if we find this to be more appropriate for you. Please check out the services page here to read more about what I can offer, and what you can expect from therapy.

I am currently accepting new clients for assessment only, however I am happy to discuss other potential referrals.
